How so? If you do not have a spirit you are not alive. Do you agree?
Before you (they) are filled with the Holy Spirit the were spiritually not alive.
Christ says that we must be born from above. What do you think this means.
He makes a point that this is not physical death but spiritual.
We are "born from above" when we receive the Holy Spirit who is from above.
Before we are born from above, we are not "born" yet. we are not alive yet.
We are spiritually unalive.
With what do you disagree?
I believe that being filled with the Holy Spirit is the same as being born again is the same as being spiritually saved.
Before you are filled with the Holy Spirit, you are "spiritually dead" because you have not yet been given the Spirit of Life.
